Mr. Branin serves as Director of Libraries for The Ohio State University, providing leadership for one of the largest university library systems in the nation. Currently ranked 19th among major research libraries in North America, the OSU Libraries has a collection of over 5 million print volumes, an annual budget of more than $25 million, and a staff of 430. In partnership with OhioLINK , the Ohio State University Libraries offer its students and faculty one of the most complete arrays of digital information and document delivery services anywhere. Mr. Branin has overseen grants from the U.S. Department of Education , the New Media Center, the Council for Library Resources, the Bush Foundation , and the State of Ohio dealing with the introduction of new information technologies to libraries. He has been a consultant to many libraries, and he was a UCLA Senior Fellow in 1991 and a Council on Library Resources Management Intern in 1984 at Columbia University Libraries. He has published and made presentations widely on collection management and information technology topics. Mr. Branin is currently leading two major initiatives at the Ohio State University: the $100 million renovation and expansion of the University’s William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library and creation of the “Knowledge Bank,” a knowledge management system and institutional repository for the storage, organization, preservation, and sharing of the intellectual digital assets of the University.

Michael Seadle Michael Seadle

Michael Seadle has written over 80 articles, chapters, and books on a wide range of subjects including copyright, computing management, digitization, and German history,. He has a PhD in history from the University of Chicago, a library degree from the University of Michigan, and over two decades of experience as a computer professional. At present he is editor of the peer-reviewed academic journal Library Hi Tech, and he is chair of the Technical Policy Committee of the LOCKSS Alliance . He has also served as: Principal Investigator for a Library of Congress/Ameritech award for text digitization; Principal Investigator for two Institute of Museum and Library Services grants; co-PI for an NSF award; and Co-PI for a Digital Library Initiative award for sound digitization.

Marcia Zeng Marcia Zeng

She holds a Ph.D. from the School of Information Sciences at University of Pittsburgh and M.A. from Wuhan University in China. Her major research interests include knowledge organization and representation, electronic publishing, indexing and abstracting, and database quality control. Her scholarly publications include over 60 papers and two books, as well as many national and international conference presentations. She is the P.I. and Co-P.I. of two National Science Foundation's (NSF) National Science Digital Library (NSDL) projects. Dr. Zeng served on a number of knowledge organization systems (KOS)-related standards working groups for international and national organizations such as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), The Special Libraries Association (SLA), and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO). Her services include Chair of the SLA Cataloguing Committee and Technical Standards Committee, Chair of IFLA Classification and Indexing Section, and Chair of the IFLA Functional Requirements for Subject Authority Records (FRSAR) Working Group.
